Writing to make the world a little better

Hi, I’m Weller Davis—an author with a background in psychology and many years in technology as a software engineer, leader, and founder of a consulting firm. I write about the ideas I’m curious about, sharing practical insights to support wellness, collaboration, and positive outcomes.

About Weller

I started my career at the intersection of people and systems. With formal training in psychology and a deep dive into software engineering, I’ve led teams, shipped products, and built a consulting practice focused on humane, effective technology.

Today, my work stretches wider: I write about how we build, learn, and live—pairing practical engineering with a curiosity for everyday systems, from a LEGO robot’s event loop to a balcony garden’s micro‑climate.

As a parent of two elementary‑school kids, I also explore hands‑on learning at home: LEGO Spike builds, family board games, simple coding projects, and the small experiments that make curiosity a daily practice.

My aim isn’t just to inform—it’s to nudge us toward better ways of working and living together, with tools that are kind to humans.

  • Psychology-informed perspectives
  • Hands-on technology leadership
  • Writing that’s practical, generous, and family‑friendly curiosity

Behind the Scenes: Building Mneme

Curious how the content on this site gets made? Mneme is the AI-powered generation engine I built to create tutorials, blogs, ebooks, code, diagrams, music, and more—all running on consumer hardware.

I've documented the entire journey in a detailed blog series covering architecture decisions, production challenges, and lessons learned from bringing each creator module to life.

📖 The Complete Series

Follow the journey from concept to production across 8+ parts covering ComfyUI migration, music generation with YuE and Stable Audio, code generation, and the architectural patterns that tie it all together.

Start with Part 1: Architecture & Local-First

📄 Architecture Field Guide

Want the technical deep-dive? Download the comprehensive PDF that maps out Mneme's modular architecture, LLM integration patterns, and production deployment strategies.

🎵 Latest: Music Creator

The most recent chapter covers the migration from YuE's complex two-stage architecture to Stable Audio Open—a story of engineering trade-offs and knowing when to pivot.
